After the prologue with Reks, you take control of Vaan in the vibrant city of Rabanastre.

The Zodiac Job System

You must choose Vaan's first given Job. Shikari (Hunter) is an excellent starter choice because it gives high HP and great early-game damage with daggers.

Buy Teleport Stones in Rabanastre before you leave the city for any major quests!

Escaping the Imperials

Imprisoned! You must escape the dungeons to the Barheim Passage where you meet Basch.

Boss: Mimic Queen

Set up your Gambits! Have Vaan steal from it while Balthier attacks. The Mimic Queen summons small battery mimics. Switch your party's targets on-the-fly to kill the small mimics first, or she'll drain the power. Cast Blizzard for massive weakness damage.
